The Way to Play
In Caravan Via Egnatia, you become a traveller at the dawn of the 19th century, setting out on the legendary road from Durrës to Istanbul.
For centuries, the Via Egnatia had carried Roman legions and later the lifeblood of Ottoman trade across the Balkans. Now it is your turn to walk in their footsteps, covering 1,120 km. of rugged terrain, bustling towns, and perilous mountain passes.
Perhaps you set out on foot, your belongings strapped to a weary donkey. If fortune smiles, you ride horseback—or even a camel. For safety and companionship, you might join a caravan, offering your skills in return for protection and shared provisions.
But beware: every stage of the road holds the unexpected. Storms, thieves, hunger, and hard bargains await. To reach your destination, you must plan wisely, adapt quickly, and decide when to compete—and when to cooperate.
So gather your companions, watch the tutorial, and learn the rules of the road. Then step into the journey. Good luck, traveler—may your wits carry you safely to Istanbul.
